Nicknames: Tor. His mother and sisters call him Gattino (Italian for kitten), or Kitten.

Appearance: Tory somehow resembles a kitten were it to take human form. He is quite slight for a male, standing only five foot seven in height with a very slim build. There is a suppleness about him, an agility and flexibility but no bulk at all. Not fat on his body and only the slimmest of muscles, which makes him a boy whos ribs pop out easily. Tory’s skin is an olive colour. He has angular features, high cheekbones, a strong nose and full lips, something slightly feminine overall. His eyes are a dark liquid brown colour, and his hair is black and sooty, worn just longish so it falls in razor bags over his forehead and over his ears and down the back of his neck. He moved almost in a slinky manner and is prone to full body stretches and other lazy movements. If he is fond of a person he can be very touchy-feely and even cuddly. Tory almost always feels warm to the touch, more so than the average person.
Psychic Ability: Pyrokinesis (sort of).
Expanded abilities: Tory’s abilities work largely with heat transfer - he is able to mentally raise the temperature of something that he can touch or is in close proximity to. He can simply warm something nicely, or he can heat to burning degrees. An object superheated will eventually (often) explode, and if he uses his abilities on a person he can give serious burns and even cause the blood to boil. If he wanted to. He can only create fire in very small amounts, no bigger than a palm full.
Limitations: Tory cannot create fire, not really. He can create enough to fill his hand but that is the extent of it, and it is unlikely he’ll ever be able to create more than this. The colder something is, the more he has to work to heat it (because he has to mentally manipulate the atoms to speed up that much more). There is always some trickle-back effect and if he uses his powers too much for too long a period he can become feverish.
Personality: The fact that Tory is adorable somehow seems to make up for all his more difficult attributes. He is a finicky little thing who is quite particular in the way things are done. He’s not OCD or anything like that, but he likes things to go his way. Spoiled, he can be terribly pouty about things that he doesn’t want to do, or when he doesn’t get when he wants, and downright petulant. And yet he does this all in such a cute way that people often want to indulge his whims. Tory can be a bit bratty at times, but in a sweet way. He can also be quite playful. Sometimes lazy, he will like to lounge around and sleep and relax, and at other times he will be up and wanting to do things. Tory likes to have fun, and to do pleasant things. He does not like to be bored, and does not like to do things he doesn’t like, and sometimes his attention can be difficult to hold. When he is upset or angry or particularly sleepy, Italian will slip into his speech, as it is his mother tongue.
Strengths: Tory is fluent in both English and Italian. He is very quick on his feet and very flexible.
Weaknesses: Tory is spoiled and can be pouty and petulant when he doesn’t get his own way. He is not very good at being told no, and he has a temper (even if he is as cute as an angry kitten when he’s mad). Tory is small, so he is not terribly strong physically.
Likes: Napping, full body stretches, clothes that feel nice against his skin, good Italian food, good music (his own definition of good music), dancing, being warm, things that make him laugh, when people buy him pretty things, snuggling, strawberries, fine wine, being massaged, games that are amusing (but not lengthy ones like chess), summertime.
Dislikes: Being cold, the dead of winter, being bored, boring things, lectures, being woken up, when things don’t go his way, dogs of all kinds, bad Italian food, bad wine.
History: Tory was born Vittorio Gnosis, named for his grand-father. And yet, from the moment of his birth no one called him anything but Tory. He was born in Venice, Italy, where he grew up, at least for the earlier part of his life. He spoke Italian until he was five, and when he started school he began to take English classes as well, as a second language.
Tory was always doted on by his entire family. He was the baby of the child and always spoiled by his parents, his older siblings, his grandparents, and basically everyone around him. It didn’t help that he was a positively adorable child with thick black hair and large brown eyes and winsome ways. He lived in Venice until he was fifteen, when his father took a job overseas, namely, in American. And so the family was uprooted and taken to live in New York.
A year before this, when Tory was about fourteen when his ability manifested, but he didn’t really notice it at first. It wasn’t until one evening when his mother was brushing his hair that she noticed he was burning up. Thinking him feverish she took his temperature, and found it much higher than it should be, she took him to the hospital. Except nothing was wrong with him. He was perfectly fine. The doctors told Tory’s mother to keep an eye on him and she did. And she found that he was always warm. And that things he touched were often warm too for no good reason. But as no problems were caused, they decided to leave it alone.
He was sixteen when problems were caused. Sitting and drinking some hot chocolate, he got in a fight with his older brother. Unconsciously he caused the liquid to overheat and the mug exploded, pieces of ceramic flying everywhere. Tory took a piece in the throat, his brother in the cheek. Both were taken to hospital and stitched up. It was then that Tory’s parents decided something really had to be done. With much research and talking to doctors, they heard of a place called the Zener School for the Mind. They contacted the school, and one of the teachers came out to meet Tory. It was agreed that he was psychic, and Tory was enrolled in school for the 2008-2009 school year.
